What is Residential Solar?
Residential solar power allows homeowners to generate their own clean, renewable electricity using energy from the sun. Solar panels, typically installed on rooftops, convert sunlight into electricity that can power a home, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering utility bills.


How does it work?
Solar Panels Capture Sunlight – Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels absorb sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity.
An Inverter Converts Energy – A solar inverter changes the DC electricity into alternating current (AC), which is used to power appliances and devices in your home. It also allows the solar generating system to be connected to the local electric grid.
Use It or Store It – The electricity generated can be used immediately, stored in a battery for later use, or sent back to the grid for energy credits (depending on local net metering policies).

Net metering is a state policy that allows a residential solar homeowner to directly benefit from the electricity they generate on their property. The solar generation that they consume is directly off-set on their electric bill, and any excess electricity that they send back to the grid is fairly compensated equal to their retail rate.
